A MASTERCLASS EVENING WITH MIKE CHAPLIN RWS, RE, FRSA. Spend an evening with Mike Chaplin (Turner watercolour Award Winner 2011) as he explains how a watercolour painting arrives on paper. From how first thoughts in the sketchbook lead to final statements on paper, Mike will introduce you to some aspects of watercolour that non-painters very rarely see and he will give an insight into how technicalities meet with inspiration to make paintings which move and excite us. What, for example, is a legendary mischievous German mine dwarf doing in our paint boxes and what is Megilp? Mike is still remembered from his many television appearances on “Watercolour Challenge” and is renowned as an expert on J M W Turner’s techniques having worked many times with Tate Britain on films, books and audio guides. An evening with Mike is an entertaining and informative occasion – an event not to be missed. For more details ring the Bankside Gallery, Home of the Royal Watercolour Society on 0207 928 7521 (South bank of the Thames & next door to Tate Modern, London). 19th April 2012 Bankside Gallery Drinks at 6pm for a 6.30 start. |
